YEMEN HEAVEN was born from a simple truth: food is memory.

We are a family with roots in Yemen who made York our home, and through our kitchen we share the stories, spices, and spirit of where we come from.

As the first restaurant of its kind in York, YEMEN HEAVEN brings the warmth of Yemenite hospitality into a modern setting. Our dishes are prepared with time-honoured techniques, using fresh ingredients chosen for purity and depth of flavour. The result is a refined yet heartfelt experience: a taste of Yemen shaped by heritage and guided by craft.

We cook not just to feed, but to connect. We offer guests a seat at our table and a glimpse into our world.

Our story begins with Muna, a cook whose food carries the memory, generosity, and quiet strength of Yemen. Raised in Taiz and later living in Saudi Arabia, she learned early on that food is a language of care, perseverance, and belonging.

What started in 2019 as home-cooked meals shared with friends grew naturally into a vision. In 2022, that vision found its home inside a historic Grade II-listed building in York, where our family’s journey, traditions, and future came together.

Today, Muna guides the soul of YEMEN HEAVEN. Her slow-cooked stews, spice-layered broths, and hand-stretched breads form the foundation of our kitchen. Every plate reflects the same promise: to honour our roots, to refine our craft, and to share the soul of Yemen with every guest who walks through our doors.
